‘Fragile’ Heidi Montag’s Mom is Freaked Out by Daughter’s Transformation

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Though she tells People magazine she’s “fragile” and “not in a great place right now,” Heidi Montag insists she’s the happiest she’s ever been, despite her mother’s bewilderment with her surgically-produced physical transformation.

Montag recently saw her mother Darlene Egelhoff for the first time since her plastic surgery marathon in late 2009 during which she had 10 procedures in a day. The reunion, which took place in Crested Butte, Colorado, Montag’s hometown, didn’t exactly go as planned.

Telling People that her mother looked at her like a “zoo animal” and a “circus freak,” Montag insisted that the only problem her mom had with her new plastic face and body was that “Spencer was there for me and she wasn’t.” Spencer is the widely disliked reality television star that Montag is married to. Mom also expressed her feelings that the great pressures of the music industry are warping Heidi’s self image, but Heidi says that her surgical changes are necessary to her career as a pop star, because part of being a pop star is being “the most beautiful, inside and out.”

Heidi’s sister Holly, who also appears on the “reality” show The Hills on MTV applauded her sister’s action, saying “She’s being very strong and holding to her own morals and I’m very proud of her.”

My weekend - A film and family party

Saturday night, I had a quiet night in with Mr Style Eyes and some easy peasy food (my favourite). I constantly moan about how there is never anything on TV (not that I get to watch it very often). But I was in luck, there was a romantic film - Music and Lyrics starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, that I had never even heard of before. I really enjoyed it and I really liked the style of the character Sophie Fisher played by Drew Barrymore particularly a very beautiful red dress.

Sunday was a big family party for my Grandma’s 85th. A great opportunity to catch up with all of my family that I don’t get to see nearly as much as I would like like. I wore my new Tromp L’Oeil dress that I bought about a month ago, but haven’t had the chance to wear yet. Tromp L’Oeil means trick the eye and is an art technique that uses imagery to create an optical illusion that looks 3D. I love the contrast of black and white and the hand drawn look of this.

Dress - Oasis
Mesh skirt - Topshop
Jacket/ bolero - Marks and Spencers
Boots - Topshop
Socks - Peakcocks
Necklace/ locket - present
scarf (in hair) - present

The Fashion Bloggers Brunch @ Arnotts

The Fashion Bloggers’ Brunch kicked off the 2010 calendar @ Arnotts this Saturday with a growing list of new style scribes. Laura from JustLolo and Ailbhe from Soooali joined us for an endless table of yummy treats, coffee and Buck’s Fizz. I was most excited about the more-than-generous goody bag which included Instant Facelift from Skin Doctors cosmeceuticals, Rituals Yogi Flow shower gel and a gorgeous charm key ring from New Zealand label Kathy. More importantly, my new Coccinelle umbrella will keep me stylishly dry at tomorrow’s Hennessy Gold Cup. And it wasn’t just the goody bag that made table conversation. Convos included Blanaid’s Style convention in Kilkenny, OffShoot’s amazing dress knocked down to €50, Help My Style’s 12 velvet dickie bows for €12 on eBay, Nicky’s Rag Tales Bali-esque karma bracelets which are gifted to friends (and which I am wearing!), greige nail varnie, the ironic unlikeliness of Facebook doppelgangers, a potential new vintage/charity shop opening in Dublin, Kate Moss’ new Longchamps range @ Arnotts which launches March 1st and the perfect venue and that was the Conran Shop. Muchos thanks to the lovely Sarah Williams @Arnotts for hosting what was a fabulous Saturday brunch. xxx

Kristen Bell is Engaged!

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Kristen Bell and longtime sweetheart Dax Shepard attended Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, with Bell resplendent on the red carpet in Jimmy Choo shoes and a dress by Etro, but the highlight of the outfit was Bell’s new engagement ring.

Designed by Neil Lane, it is a cafe au lait-colored, emerald cut diamond approximately the size of a headlight on a 1987 Jeep Wrangler. Set in platinum, the rock is surrounded with smaller accent diamonds. Bell was photographed looking triumphant next to her squeeze Sunday night, and confirmed the news that she and 35-year-old Shepard will wed after having been together for many years.

Bell, 29, stars in the television show “Heroes,” while Shepard has been on “My Name is Earl” and “Punk’d”

The two recently starred in the romantic comedy When in Rome. In the movie, an ambitious New Yorker, played by Bell, scoops up some magic coins from a fountain that make a bunch of dudes fall in love with her: a sausage mogul, a street magician, a painter, and a self-absorbed male model, played by Shepard. The movie has been variously reviewed as “annoying,” “painfully bad,” and “pointless.”

Here’s hoping the couple’s off-screen life will be otherwise.

Grammy Red Carpet 2010: Hits and Misses

The Grammy Red Carpet is probably one of the most trying things to try to dress for. Sure, everyone wants to look good, but with an edge. Straight up “Old Hollywood” glamour is a little out of place here, but it’s also easy for stars to get carried away and end up looking ridiculous. There’s a fine line between an “outfit” and a “get-up”, and at the Grammys you can expect a lot of stars to cross that line. Time for some armchair stylist action.

Photo from fOTOGLIF

I adore Beyonce, and I wouldn’t begrudge her any award she’s ever gotten. I thought she handled that whole MTV Music Awards thing with Kanye West with great grace and class. And since I’m starting out by saying these things, you can probably guess that I wasn’t crazy about her dress at the Grammy awards. It looked as if it were made out of pull tabs from soda cans. I think that sparkle and glitz are great – in fact, they’re perfect for the Grammy’s, but she looked as if she could’ve been Isaac Hayes date when he won the Grammy for “Shaft” in 1972.

From the hips up, I thought Pink’s dress on the red carpet was awesome. She’s really a beautiful girl, even if she doesn’t fit the sweet sugar-princess stereotype. But I just can’t make myself like those fishtail hems. With the ombre effect, where the closer to the hem you got, the darker the dress got, I couldn’t help but think of it being dragged through mud or silt or something. Someone should have grabbed a pair of scissors, lopped the dress off just above the knee, and then run like hell because she would probably come after them to mete out some instant justice. The dress would have looked 100% better, though.

Taylor Swift also went the edgy black dress route and got it just right. She has the slender figure that demands a certain level of sophistication to avoid looking like a teenager playing dress-up, and her KaufmanFranco  jersey halter dress was perfect for her.

It almost pains me to say this, but Miley Cyrus was also a hit in a black dress by Max Azria. It is a similar pain to that I get when I see her line of clothing she collaborated with Max Azria on in Walmart. It upsets me that I like some of the designs enough to want some of them, even though they’re for teens. Ah, well. Miley looked lovely, and that’s the bottom line.

To me, the Grammy Red Carpet winner was Katy Perry. In a sugar-pink Jenny Packham dress, she channeled just enough old-school Hollywood, while showcasing her curvy figure with just the right amount of rock-and-roll suggestiveness. The sparkly earrings and bracelet punctuated the look perfectly. It gives me hope that she’ll pick a great wedding dress when she and Russell Brand say their vows later this year.

How-to Hair: Pink’s Grammy Look

The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards - Press Room

Pink’s look at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards was a shimmering vision of modern glamour.

Stylist Marco Santini, who highlighted glistening shine to play up her platinum hair color, and define her texture and subtle grey tips, created the sophisticated red carpet look.

Santini, inspired by her silver-grey gown and the dramatic performance to come, created a unique, flowing shape that emphasized volume, height, and the illusion of movement. He accented the look with a diamond star-shaped pin.

Santini stayed with Pink after the red carpet, and was backstage waiting to quickly reproduce the look right after her stunning aerial performance of “Glitter in the Air” during which she was drenched in a shower of water.

“I had to work very quickly to restyle her look,” explained Santini. “I used Moroccanoil argan oil-infused products because I know they instantly absorb into hair, produce amazing shine, and won’t create build up. The look had to
appear as fresh, light, and beautiful the second time around as it did for the red carpet.”

How Marco Santini Created Pink’s Much Discussed Look:

dgt65s
Step 1:
Santini started by applying Moroccanoil Treatment throughout the singer’s damp hair to create a silky-smooth shine. He placed a small amount in the palm of his hand then combed through the hair with his fingers.

Step 2:
Next Santini applied argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream from the roots through the ends for lift at the root and to give soft shine-enhancing hold, as well as create a “grip” for his brush while blow drying shape and direction.

Step 3
After Pink’s cropped locks were blow-dried, Santini misted new argan-oil infused Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray on the outer layer and saturated several layers inside the hair from root to end. Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray leaves hair looking weightless and gives the hair glistening shine without sticky residue or build-up (especially important in this style since Santini had to reproduce the look after her Grammy performance). Santini then brushed the sides of Pink’s hair back and sculpted a rockabilly fold toward the nape of the neck.

Step 4
He finished the look with a light mist of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray all over the hair (from a distance of 10-12 inches) for an instant boost of shine. The final touch to Pink’s Grammy look was a star-shaped diamond brooch that was fastened to the front of her hair. Santini took a small section of hair towards the front of her head and tied it with a clear
rubber band., then fastened the diamond brooch to the hair for an elegant touch.
